Explore your MBTI-style personality type with 64 everyday questions

The 16 MBTI personality types bring together four preferences. This approach originated in Carl Jung's theory of psychological types and was subsequently developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. A type is represented by four letters, for example INFJ, ENTP or ISTJ, with each letter standing for one preference in a pair. No one belongs entirely to either side; your code indicates the preferences you tend to favour more often.

Understanding the four letters

E or I – Extraversion or Introversion: whether you draw energy from people and external activity or from inward reflection.
N or S – Intuition or Sensing: whether possibilities and patterns catch your attention before specific facts and details.
T or F – Thinking or Feeling: whether your decisions rely mostly on logic and consistency or on values and the impact on others.
J or P – Judging or Perceiving: whether you prefer firm plans and closure or flexibility and keeping options open.

How your score is calculated

Using a five-point scale, you will rate 64 brief statements describing situations involving work, friendships, learning, plans and decisions. There are 16 statements for each letter pair, with 8 representing either side. Agreement points are totalled separately for each side; whichever has the higher score determines your letter. Combining all four letters produces your type. Allow about 15 minutes to complete the test.

What you will find in your results

The results page explains your thinking and decision-making style, your usual approach to work, your contributions to friendships and romantic relationships, and how you experience stress. It also covers three practical habits that help and the types you typically connect with.
